Another helpful piece. Thank you, David. I would just add that if you find yourself getting very angry for small things you are already in a bad mood. That being so, something else will come along that needs the three words. You need to dig a little deeper to see that you are in a bad mood and thus irritable (not just irritated). The cause of the bad mood does not matter at this point. Look at how you are. What is tense in your body? How does your mind feel? You will see your own vulnerability and be more prepared to face the world without unnecessary reactivity.
