I could not agree more. Each year my former church makes a trip to Mexico to build a small house. They raise money, buy airfare, must stay somewhere. Most know nothing about building homes. Some have never held a hammer. With all the money and time spent on this they could have helped the community build many houses. Some call this poverty porn. That may be a bit strong, but we must keep in mind what we are doing. Having the chance to help others is not our right to impose on them and if done in a foolishly expensive way runs contrary to our purpose.
