I have always thought that one of the basic flaws of Christianity is that it does not understand the difference between tradition and something more theological like a sacrament. Much of what Christians do is tradition. And that can be celebrated AS tradition. Jews understand this and have stood the test of time. I once asked our pastor if we could sing Paul Simon's Bridge Over Troubled Water in church. He said he'd love to but many older people would be offended. The songs we sung were sclerotic with vacuous melodies and ancient lyrics. God does not need to be told that all power, honor and glory is His for the umpteenth time (or ever really as it is fit for generals, not God). Decide what is really tradiiton and what is not. Then decide what you will keep and where to let some air in.
