This is so important, Gillian. Look at the warnings cigarettes now have. People breathing out of tubes in their necks with half their jaws missing from surgery. Pictures of diseased lungs on some packages of cigarettes. But for alcohol we have pristine mountain springs or a pirate captain smiling. Alcohol still gets a pass in our society. There are countless people with brain damage from drinking, which does not even approach the many people described in this article. Alcohol causes more deaths than opioids and all other drugs combined every year. By a long shot. And long before you get to the point of severe organ damage your mind is corrupted. Your thinking, feeling, and perceiving are all impaired and will take years to get better, if it does. And again alcohol gets a pass.
