This is so right on, Benya. Addiction is a disorder that some people get. It's not because they are sad or had a bad childhood. Those and many other things contribute to getting things started. But once addiction begins they are no longer causing it. It is so important that people understand the nature of mental disorders. Lastly, to Kellye's comment below. Anyone can get tolerant to high doses of alcohol and have withdrawl if they stop. That is not addiction, which involves craving and many behaviors to get alcohol which most people would not do.
